Pietro is a visual artist, with a layered biographical narrative that includes activities as entrepreneur, designer and organizer. His work has been the focus of numerous one-person and group exhibitions in the U.S. and and in Italy. He has founded two nonprofits that focus on the proliferation and support of arts and culture in the U.S. and in Italy. Costa’s artwork is in private, museums and public collections in both countries.
His more than fourteen years as an Exhibition Installation Specialist/Manager involved him in the realization of countless exhibitions globally for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and as Engineering and Installation Manager for the sculptor Richard Serra. Costa has contributed to the making of historically important works for renowned artists, including Richard Serra, Mario Merz and Dan Flavin.
His art practice and the programming of the two nonprofits he founded, have received extensive press coverage and accolades.
Pietro was born in Sant’Arsenio, one of the fifteen small towns that make up the Vallo di Diano, in the southern Italian province of Salerno. He has lived in New York, where he arrived with his family in 1972.
